Caricature is a picture that represents a person or situation by exaggerating certain traits or characteristics intentional. It can be considered the quintessence of the art. First ironic notation was created 7000 years ago on an Egyptian papyrus; you remember certainly thouse mythological parodies scenes on Greek vases, or first know caricature of a politician from Pompeii. In the Middle Ages caricatures were executed by prominent artists of those times: Leonardo da Vinci's drawings or Calla's stylish drawings caves, Bosch or Goya in the history of graphics caricature.The beginning of the cartoon itself is due to British artist William Hogarth (1697-1764).The second England's largest caricaturist is considered Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1872).The third important exponent of early caricature in United Kingdom is George Cruikshank (1792-1878). In Germany, Daniel Chodowiecki published satirical drawings in the almanacs edited in Berlin in 1770 commenting by graphic the lifestyle of German society. In France, the most important cartoonist was Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) and in Russia, the caricature comes in early nineteenth century, by Alexander Orlowski(1777-1832), a Polish talented painter,a draftsman and graphic artis, born in Warsaw,a refugee in St. Petersburg where he lived to the end of his life. In Romania,the caricature appears between 1830-1860, once with the formation of national consciousness. Some of prominent representatives of the Romanian graphic caricature of that time were Murnu A., I.Iser, N.Tonitza Ressu C. After 1944, the caricatures has become a means of propaganda in the service of the Communists.In conclusion caricature is a historical source, a visual document, an interesting witness of history, especially for the XIX - XX centuries, an attractive tool in a suggestive manner and always been the great source of fun for almost everyone as it represents the essence of a person or a thing in a very exaggerated manner, a manner that creates a unique and very amusing visual portrait like the ones below presented of some famous celebrity.(Source of pictures:BoardJournal.com)

I would hate to see a caricature of myself! I do see the value in them, though. The one I am most fond of here is the one of Morgan Freeman, a magnificent actor. This was actually a good portrayal of him.
Very funny pictures! My favorite was the Deniro shot. Interesting topic.

Hi Dyeve.
Don't you just love them!
Somehow it's a lot easyer to accept some people when they are represented in this way.Your selection was great not an "Obamination".lol
My fav is Robert Deniro,just love the guy acting!
@Will
Love deNiro, too.
When I choose Will as a favourite one I've remembered although how Smith initially gained fame as the rap star Fresh Prince prior to the age of 20 and that caricature reminds me that.
Thanks! Wishing always the best!
Just brilliant! I enjoyed studying each one and thought how clever artists are to be able to highlight each person's unique feature/s.
Great post! Thanks.
