The wizard of stop-motion

Youtube phenom, is Patrick Boivin ~ a self-taught director who got his start working on a show called Phylactèrecola for a Quebec broadcaster. He has directed several shorts that have been on the international festival circuit. He has created stop-motion animation videos, some of which have gotten over five million hits. He is wowing everyone on the web with his technical proficiency, but most of all with his very own brand of cheeky pop cultural remixing.

He is known on the web as the wizard of stop-motion, but the French Canadian creator is much more than that. In his Youtube channel we can find disturbing works, fun, interactive and instructive, impossible to remain indifferent to a job like his. One of thouse in particular, a very spectacular one - which refers to a future world full of zombies show us that Boivin work doesn't stop there. Kinda a nightmare where we see a dead clown revived by the magic of Coca-Cola mixed with Mentos, a "Ronald MacDonald"  bloodthirsty... Watch!

The Clown (Le Queloune)

(Impressive, right?) He defines himself as an autodidact director, but not only directs its work, is also responsible for lighting, editing, animation, special effects, etc.. He began drawing comics at age 15 until he realized it was faster to tell a story with video. Between 2002 and 2003 he was participating in a television program named “Phylactere Cola”, which he and eight other people were responsible for everything from assembling the set to acting, his school, as acknowledged himself.

Many of us maybe knew him through his videos with toys, like that one of  Iron-man vs Bruce Lee fighting, or the interactive video in which Batman and Joker are challenging in a breakdance battle thanks to the fascinating art of stop motion. The latter is also a battle of dance but with a bit of physical contact between Michael Jackson and a motorized Mr. Bean. I also find video clips, interactive as “King of the dogs” by Iggy Pop,  Tony Hawk, Google, to name a few .. and this one, too:

IRON BABY

A mini-studio.. some figurines and a minimum of production equipment and his huge talents plus creativity added to all his work.. and if the name of Patrick Boivin don’t tell you nothing , it may be time to repair your Internet connection...and  he's cute, too.~ smiles ~ Ditto!

I liked the zombie-clown movie, my only question is why was everyone else zombies after he left the house? Oh, and I'll never mix Diet Coke with Mentos in a graveyard again!

Probably he choose a different kind of apocalypse in his vision.....yet [Scary] for us becouse of that much vehiculated End of the World in 2012.
...or maybe he love brains and it's a sugestion that we can make the future a feast of brains and glorious, bloody flesh as we turn humans, all the humans, into zombies.
It's more chic and tasty.
